ON YER BIKES - A UNIQUE STORY OF SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE
How does a grass-roots Jewish project end up becoming a successful social enterprise, accessing funding from Islamic Relief UK and being featured on Al Jezeera? In this session, David shares the story of London-based The Bike Project (of which David is the Chair), which collects old bicycles, refurbishes them and gives them to refugees and asylum-seekers. More than just a heart-warming tale, David takes us through the journey of developing a successful social enterprise, the Jewish community incubating an organisation that serves a non-Jewish population and it becoming mainstream, and how all of this is being done in a way which promotes sustainability.
