Julie Thomas has  always loved writing. Why did she choose the Shoah as a setting for "The Keeper of Secrets" and continue that theme in the other two books? What is it about the story of the Holocaust that touched her so deeply? If she wanted to write about a missing precious violin looted by the Nazis, why did she put it in the hands of a Jewish family? In this hour she wants to explore and explain her deep connection to the Jewish experience in WW2 and how she researched the different elements she writes about.  Why does she feel such a need to share what she's read of the experiences of real people, to recreate these for her fictional characters, and do her bit to ensure such widespread genocide never happens again?
